Overall thoughts on the game at Liberty
"I'm very disappointed with the outcome. We came here to play well – and I think we did for a period of time. We just got overwhelmed with their athleticism in the second half. They're a really good football team. They have one of the best quarterbacks in the country right now and got some talented receivers that we just couldn't hold up against that."
Â
On the second half of Saturday's game:
"I thought our guys played hard and with a lot of effort. We tried to do too much in the second half. We started having some penalties in the second half. In the first half, we didn't have very many penalties, which was pretty awesome. We turned the ball over there in the second half trying to do too much."

Takeaways from Saturday's 2020 season-opener at FBS No. 22 Liberty:
"We'll learn from it. I looked out there on both sides of the ball at times, and there were freshmen all over the place the field. I knew it. I've seen our roster and our depth chart before. There were six freshmen on both sides of the ball out there one time during the day playing together. We've got to learn from this and move forward. As long as we keep working hard and believing, this is a part of the process. All said, we've got to get ready for Feb. 20, when we get ready for the SoCon season and head down to Furman."
Â
On the opportunity of two more games in the fall semester:
"We've got an opportunity this week to get better against Eastern Kentucky and get some more practice in after Thanksgiving and have another contest against the University of North Carolina. I think we're only one of 17 FCS teams in America getting this opportunity. With such a young football team, this is going to help us with experience and everything else as we get ready for the spring season."
