Catamounts Look For Fifth Straight Win on Saturday

CULLOWHEE, N.C. – Western Carolina looks for its fifth straight win on Saturday as the Catamounts travel to in-state foe North Carolina A&T for a 4 p.m. tip-off at the Corbett Sports Center.

The game will be streamed for free on Aggies All-Access with audio coverage available on the Catamount Sports Network beginning at 3:30 p.m.

WCU is 5-1 following a thrilling 76-75 overtime triumph against Tennessee Tech in the Ramsey Center last Sunday afternoon. Redshirt senior Mason Faulkner drained the game-winning 3-pointer with 0.8 seconds remaining as the Catamounts rallied from a six-point deficit with less than two minutes remaining in regulation to earn the victory. Sophomore Travion McCray buried a game-tying 3-pointer to force the extra session while classmate Tyler Harris grabbed a career-high 10 rebounds in the winning effort.

North Carolina A&T is 2-6 after a 95-59 loss at VCU on Wednesday in Richmond, Va. The Aggies played the night before at Longwood, dropping that contest 77-60. All told, A&T has dropped four-straight games since losing a double-digit second half lead in a road loss at SoCon-member The Citadel in early December. Blake Harris leads the team with an average of 9.7 points per game and is closely followed by 2019-20 first team All-MEAC selection Kameron Langley with 9.3 points per game.

Saturday's game is the 11th all-time meeting between the schools with North Carolina A&T holding a 6-4 series edge. The teams last met on Nov. 12, 2019, in Cullowhee with Faulkner posting the first triple-double in WCU's Division I era with 13 points, 10 rebounds, and 10 assists in a 90-64 triumph.

The Catamounts close out the nonconference schedule next week with a pair of road games, facing VCU on Tuesday and former SoCon rival College of Charleston on Friday. Both games are scheduled to tip-off at 7 p.m.
