AN INSIDE LOOK AT THE CATAMOUNTS:
- Western Carolina and Tennessee Tech meet for the ninth time on Wednesday. The Golden Eagles have won the last three meetings with two of the last three wins coming in Cullowhee. The Catamounts last win over the Golden Eagles came in Cookeville on Nov. 26, 2011 defeating Tennessee Tech 61-58. The win in 2011 was the second of WCU's only two victories in the series - which began with a 74-61 win in 2007 at the Paradise Classic in Honolulu, Hi. earning WCU the Paradise Classic Tournament crown. WCU and Tennessee Tech first met on Mar. 10, 1974 with the Golden Eagles winning 62-51.
- Freshman Zanoria Cruz scored a career-high 24 points at Charleston Southern Sunday, Dec. 13. She is the first Catamount this season to score 20 or more points in a game and the first WCU freshman to eclipse the 20-point mark this year. She also hit a career-high nine field goals and played a career-best 34 minutes.
- WCU is 32-of-38 from the free-throw line over the last four games. Overall, WCU is 45-of-61 from the charity stripe shooting 73.8 percent - which leads the Southern Conference.
- The Catamounts have two players averaging in double figures after five games: Kyla Allison paces the team with 11.2 points per game while rookie Cruz is second with 10.8 points per game.
- Western Carolina has had at least on player score in double figures in the first five games of the season.

AN INSIDE LOOK AT THE GOLDEN EAGLES:
- Golden Eagle Anna Jones, who transferred from Middle Tennessee and was a teammate of Catamount Kyla Allison in the 2018-19 season with the Blue Raiders, was named the co-recipient of the Ohio Valley Conference's Newcomer of the Week award this week. Jones averaged 12 points for her first two contests, but against Jacksonville State, the Jackson native scored 21 points on 7-of-9 shooting, including a 4-for-6 effort from 3-point range. Jones also had four steals.Â
- Tennessee Tech had its first two contests canceled and didn't open the season until Dec. 11 falling to SoCon member, and in-state rival, Chattanooga, 76-65. The Golden Eagles bounced back to defeat Jacksonville State 68-66 hitting two free throws to seal the win.
- The Golden Eagles have two players averaging in double figures led by Keisha Brady's 26 points per game. Jones follows with 12.
