CULLOWHEE, N.C. – Western Carolina men's basketball plays its ninth and final nonconference game of the 2020-21 season on Friday (Dec. 18) as the Catamounts visit former Southern Conference rival College of Charleston at 7 p.m. inside TD Arena in Charleston, S.C.

The Catamounts are 6-2 following a 93-68 loss at VCU on Tuesday. Sophomore
Xavier Cork led three WCU players in double figures with 16 points.

Cory Hightower is eligible to play on Friday night. During the 2019-20 season, he averaged a team-best 13.7 points and 6.1 rebounds as he started 30 of 31 games at Presbyterian College and earned Honorable Mention All-Big South Conference honors.
College of Charleston, currently in the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA), is 2-3 after a 90-63 home victory over South Carolina State. Brenden Tucker led five Cougars in double figures with 16 points. Of the five games that CofC has played this season, four have been played on their home court.
Friday's game is the 31
st all-time meeting between the schools with the Cougars holding a 23-7 advantage with a bulk of the previous meetings held from 1998-2013 when the Cougars were in the SoCon. College of Charleston has won the last seven matchups including a 77-74 victory on Nov. 10, 2018 in Cullowhee.
Following Friday's game, WCU is idle until it opens SoCon play at defending league champion ETSU on Wednesday, Dec. 30. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. with streaming available on ESPN+
