AN INSIDE LOOK AT THE CATAMOUNTS:
  • Western Carolina and Elon meet for the 42nd time on Saturday. It will be just the second time the two teams have met since the Phoenix left the Southern Conference after the 2014 season. Last season Elon bested WCU 68-24 in the Catamounts' lowest scoring output of the season. Overall, Elon holds a 23-18 advantage over the Catamounts and has won the last eight meetings. WCU played a program-record four overtimes in the win at Elon on Feb. 11, 2008, defeating the Phoenix 102-101. While a member of the SoCon, Elon had a 13-9 record in conference play over WCU. The Catamounts are 7-13 at home against Elon with the last home victory occurring on Feb. 16, 2009 - a 77-61 win; part of WCU's 10-game win streak that culminated in the 2009 SoCon Tournament crown.
  • Kyla Allison's 14 points at Duke was a season-high for the redshirt junior. She has scored in double figures in the first two games of the season.
  • The veterans were leading the charge against Duke accounting for 43 of WCU's 56 points in the game. Redshirt senior Tembre Moates led with 18, redshirt junior Kyla Allison 14, and redshirt senior Lauren LaPlant 11.
  • Freshman Zanoria Cruz earned her first start as a Catamount at Duke. She was the first of the WCU freshman this season to earn a start.
  • The Catamounts have three players averaging double-figure scoring with Tembre Moates leading the way with 13.5 points per game followed by Kyla Allison's 13 and Nadia Marshall's 10.

AN INSIDE LOOK AT THE PHOENIX:
  • Elon's match-up with Western Carolina is the first of three SoCon schools the Phoenix will play this season. In three of Elon's next four games the Phoenix will face the Catamounts (Dec. 5), and host Furman (Dec. 13) and UNCG (Dec. 18).
  • Elon has played just one game so far this season – an 88-60 win over Gardner-Webb on Nov. 25.
  • Elon returns 13 of its 14 players from the 2019-20 roster.
  • The Phoenix were picked to finish fourth, tied with Northeastern, in the CAA preseason poll.
