Cullowhee, N.C. – Western Carolina looks to extend its winning streak to three games as the Catamounts welcome chromatic rival Furman to the Ramsey Center on Saturday for a 2 p.m. contest.
Fans are encouraged to purchase their tickets in advance to secure the best seats and avoid lines on game day. The Ramsey Center Ticket Office and the Southwest ticket booth open at 12:30 pm. with Ramsey Center doors opening at 1 p.m. WCU students sitting in the Cat Cage Student Section are eligible for the promotional giveaway, a pair of WCU logo socks courtesy of Catamount Peak Apartments.
WCU is 15-7 overall and 7-4 in the Southern Conference thanks to a 78-70 road win over Samford on Wednesday. The Catamounts used a 14-1 run in the second half that broke a 37-37 en route to the victory.
Carlos Dotson tallied his sixth straight double-double with a game-high 20 points and 14 rebounds.
Onno Steger finished in double figures for the second straight game with 18 points while
Mason Faulkner added 16 points.
Furman is 19-5 overall and 9-2 in league games after a convincing 79-57 home win over Mercer on Wednesday night, ending the Bears' six-game winning streak. Five Paladins finished in double figures led by Noah Gurley with 15 points. Clay Mounce pulled down a team-best six rebounds and recorded 12 points.
The Catamounts and Paladins are the top two scoring teams in league games with WCU averaging 77.6 points per game in conference games just ahead of Furman who is averaging 75.5 ppg.
Saturday's game is the 77
th all-time meeting between the schools with Furman leading the series 47-29 after an 83-79 victory in Greenville on Jan. 15. In that game, Dotson led the Catamounts with 21 points and 11 rebounds, but the Paladins pulled away down the stretch to secure the victory. Furman has won the last eight matchups.
The contest will be streamed on ESPN+ (paid subscription required) with audio coverage available on the Catamount Sports Network.
WCU hits the road on Wednesday, traveling to UNCG for a 7 p.m. contest at Greensboro Coliseum.
