Women's Basketball Adds Two More for 2020-2021 Season

Catamounts have a total of eight newcomers for upcoming season

CULLOWHEE, N.C. – Western Carolina Head Women's Basketball Coach Kiley Hill announced the signings of Audrey Meyers (Columbia, S.C. / Cardinal Newman High School) and Nadia Marshall (Bainbridge, Ga. / Gulf Coast State College) to his inaugural recruiting class for the 2020-2021 season.

Meyers and Marshall join Zanoria Cruz, Mykaylyn Davis, Joi Reid, Sophia Singer and Grace Yocum as signees for the upcoming season. These seven join Kyla Allison, who transferred from Middle Tennessee State and sat out the 2019-20 season due to NCAA rules, as recruits for next season.

NOTES: As a senior helped lead Cardinal Newman to back-to-back SCISA 3A state championship titles … In her senior year, she averaged 17.4 points, 6.2 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 2.3 assists per game. WLTX Player of the Week and was SCISA 3 A Player of the Year for a second-straight year … During her junior year, she was an integral part of Cardinal Newman winning its first-ever state title in school history and was named SCISA 3 A Co-Player of the Year … For her career, she scored 1,458 points and ripped down 670 rebounds ... Set school record for most varsity games played throughout high school (129).

NOTES: NJCAA 1st and 2nd Team All-State and All- Region Recognition … As a freshman at Gulf Coast State College she helped the team win the 2019 FCSAA/NJCAA State Championship … She played in all 32 games in her first season averaging 5.7 points and 3.2 rebounds per game … While playing at Bainbridge High School she was a two-time all-region selection and lead the team in scoring and rebounds her junior year … Member of 1,000 Point Club (1,783) and 1,000 Rebound Club (1,041).

QUOTES FROM HILL: "Nadia is the ultimate team player. I'm not sure I have been around a more "WE" kid than her in a long time in the recruiting process. There is no doubt her skill set and intangible qualities were major contributors to her team's success when they won the NJCAA National Championship her freshmen year and were poised to go after another this season. NOTES: In her senior year, helped lead Lake Highland Prep to FHSAA Class 4A State Championship … Named Sentinel Varsity Girls 2019-2020 Girls basketball Player of Year … Named to 2019-2020 All-Area Team … Member of 1,000 Point Club As a junior averaged 13.2 points, 1.3 assists, 4.7 rebounds and two steals per game for Lake Highland Preparatory School. She helped Lake Highland reach the Class 5-A State Finals in back-to-back seasons as a sophomore and junior. Entering her senior season, she has scored 1,180 points, dished out 156 assists, 566 rebounds and 189 steals.
 
Mykaylyn Davis • Riverview, Fla. • Seffner Christian Academy • Guard • 5-8
NOTES: As a senior Member of 1,000 Point Club... Florida Top Assist Leader ...Seffner Co-MVP … As a junior assisted Seffner runner-up in the state 4-A playoffs along with runner-up in Region play and as a sophomore and a freshman the team was District Champions. Ranked first in assists per game in the state of Florida for high school players in 2018-19. She broke the school record in the triple jump in the 2018-19 season ranked 44th in the state of Florida.
 
Joi Reid • Ellenwood, Ga. • Forest Park High School • Guard • 6-0
NOTES: As a senior helped lead Forest Park High School to GHSA Region 4 6A State Championship … Named to GHSA Region 4 6A All-Region Team … Clayton Country All-Star Team Scholar Athlete Award.All-Metro Honorable Mention In her junior season, played in 18 games averaging 4.2 points, 4.2 rebounds and 2.3 steals per game. While at Forest Park High School for her career she has played in 73 games averaging 3.3 points, one assist, 3.2 rebounds and 1.8 steals per game.
 
Sophia Singer • Woodstock, Ga. • Woodstock High School • Guard • 6-0
 
NOTES: Georgia Merit Scholar … Cindy Richards-Woody Student of Year … Assisted Woodstock High School to reach the state tournament in three consecutive seasons as a freshman through her junior year. As a sophomore, the team was 17-11 and was the regional tournament runner-up. As a sophomore and junior, named (GHSA Region 7 7A) First Team All-County and First Team All-Region. In her junior campaign, averaged 13 points, eight rebounds, three assists, three steals and two blocks for the game. She also averaged in double figures as a sophomore with 12 points per game. She was also a varsity athlete in track and field reaching the state, a sectional qualifier for two seasons in the long jump.  
 
Grace Yocum • Frankfort, Ky. • Vincennes University • Forward • 6-4
NOTES: 17 Varsity Letters … Named Frankfort High School's All-Around Best Athlete … Athlete Honor Roll … While a freshman at Vincennes University junior college, she saw action in 27 games averaging three points per game and shooting 57.4 percent from the field. Before starting her collegiate playing career at Vincennes, Yocum played at Frankfort High School. While at Frankfort, she was named All-Region, All-District, and All-County. As a senior at Frankfort, she averaged seven points, 12.4 rebounds, six blocked shots per game. She ended her high school career ranked 15th all-time for career blocked shots in state history and recorded 35 double-doubles. She earned multiple varsity letters for tennis, soccer, track, and field, volleyball, was the football manager and of course basketball.
