Catamounts, Flames to Kick Off at 2 pm on Nov. 14

Meeting marks the seventh all-time in series history

Cullowhee, N.C. – Western Carolina's football road game against Liberty University scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 14, 2020, will kick off at 2 pm at Williams Stadium in Lynchburg, Va., it was announced today as the Flames unveiled their home date start times.

The game between the Catamounts and Flames was originally announced on Dec. 21, 2017 as Liberty, which at the time was amidst its transition from the NCAA Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) to the NCAA Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) as an independent, announced its future schedules for both the 2020 and 2021 seasons.

The mid-November meeting between the two schools at 25,000-seat Williams Stadium is the seventh in the all-time series – the first since 2008 and also the first since the Flames reclassified. Both schools have three wins in the head-to-head series that dates back to 1996 with Liberty having won the past two meetings overall. This year's game will be the fourth meeting in Lynchburg with the Flames having won two of the previous three.

Remaining official game times, additional game-day promotions, and broadcast schedules will be announced later. All dates are subject to change. Beginning in the fall of 2020, Western Carolina Athletics will implement a clear bag policy for all football home games at Whitmire Stadium to provide a safer environment for the public and expedite entry into the stadium. More information on the implementation of this procedure will be released soon.

Also, as the Catamount Club continues to work to raise a little over $800K between now and the end of the fiscal year to cover the costs associated with educating our student-athletes through their scholarship in the annual fund, they understand that times are currently challenging. The Catamount Club staff is willing to work with each donor in every way possible to ensure we help accomplish our collective goal of making an impact. The traditional membership renewal campaign begins in early-May, pending the gravity of the circumstances facing our region due to COVID-19, and as of right now, the Catamount Club is still planning on a June 30th deadline for members either completing renewal or creating a specialized fulfillment plan for individual contributions. However, at any point, donors are able to complete their gift by calling the Catamount Club office at (828) 227-3047 or by logging into their donor account by visiting CatamountSports.com/CatamountClub.
