Men’s Basketball Ventures to Wofford on Saturday

CULLOWHEE, N.C. – Western Carolina hits the road Saturday (Jan. 23) in search of its third straight victory over Wofford as the Catamounts and Terriers battle inside Jerry Richardson Indoor Stadium at 4 p.m. Saturday's tip-off was moved up from 7 p.m. earlier in the week. No fans will be permitted in the arena for Saturday's league match-up.

The game will be streamed on ESPN+ (paid subscription required) with audio coverage on the Catamount Sports Network beginning at 3:30 p.m.

WCU is 7-6 overall on the season and 0-4 in the SoCon following a 59-48 home loss to ETSU on Wednesday. Xavier Cork and Matt Halvorsen finished in double figures with 13 and 12 points, respectively. Tyler Harris had a career day on the defensive side of the ball, grabbing 11 rebounds and blocking three shots.

Winners of three straight, Wofford is 8-4 overall and 4-1 in league action after a 77-59 road win at Chattanooga last Saturday. After trailing by 13 at halftime, the Terriers scored 55 points in the second half to earn their fourth league win, all of which have come on the road.

Saturday's game is the 61st all-time meeting in a series that is tied at 30 games apiece. WCU swept the season series in 2019-20 for the first time since the 2006-07 season thanks to an 81-72 home win on Jan. 25 and an 80-74 win in Spartanburg on Feb. 15. A victory on Saturday would not only be WCU's first league win this year, halting a four-game slide but would equal its three-game win streak over Wofford enjoyed between the 2015-16 and 2016-17 seasons.

Following Saturday's game, the Catamounts remain on the road, heading to Lexington, Va., to face VMI on Wednesday, Jan. 27 for a 7 p.m. tip-off at Cameron Hall.
