CULLOWHEE, N.C. – The Western Carolina track & field teams kick off the indoor season on Saturday (Jan. 23) as the Catamounts travel to Lexington, Va., for the VMI Team Challenge.
Saturday's competition is the first of two visits to VMI's Corps Physical Training Center this season as the venue will also the SoCon Indoor Championships on Feb. 27-28.
The meet begins at 10:30 a.m. with the men's long jump, women's long jump, and women's high jump before wrapping up at 7:25 p.m. with the men's 4x400-meter relay. Live results for the meet will be available via a link on catamountsports.com.
The WCU men are the two-time defending champions of the event after a strong performance in the 400-meter dash and 4x400-meter relay allowed them to eclipse former SoCon archrival Appalachian State in the team standings.
The Catamounts are off next weekend before heading to Johnson City, Tenn., and the ETSU Invitational on Feb. 5-6 in the ETSU Athletics Center, or the Mini-Dome.
