Catamounts Host South Carolina State Tuesday

CULLOWHEE, N.C. – Western Carolina women's basketball South Carolina State at 4 p.m. Tuesday in the Ramsey Center. The contest was rescheduled form the original date of Dec. 29.

AN INSIDE LOOK AT THE CATAMOUNTS:
  • Western Carolina and South Carolina State meet for the fourth time on Tuesday with the Bulldogs leading 2-1. The Bulldogs have won the last two meetings one in Orangeburg, S.C., and one in Cullowhee. In the last meeting, Dec. 29, 2018, the Bulldogs defeated the Catamounts 54-39. Western Carolina's lone win came 40 years ago, on Dec. 4, 1981, with WCU winning 74-66. 
  • Redshirt senior Lauren LaPlant hit a career-high six three-pointers in the 65-54 win over Wofford on Jan. 23. The six treys rank tied for third in the WCU record books for most three-pointers in a game.
  • After scoring under 50 points in the last four games, Western Carolina eclipsed the 50-point mark with 65 points in the win over Wofford. WCU has scored 60 or more points in five games this season. 
  • Redshirt sophomore Nadia Marshall has started in the last three games. In two of the three-games, she has scored in double figures scoring 14 in game one against Wofford and 10 in the Saturday victory. In the last three starts, she is averaging 10 points per game. 
 
 AN INSIDE LOOK AT THE BULLDOGS:
  • South Carolina State returns to the hardwood for the first time since Jan. 10 when the Bulldogs fell to North Carolina A&T 97-54 in MEAC conference action. 
  • The Bulldog's lone win on the season was against a common opponent with the Catamounts defeating UNCA Asheville 69-60. WCU opened the 2020-21 season with a loss to UNCA – 70-59.
  • South Carolina State will have a short bench as only seven players traveled for the game on Tuesday. 
  • Heniaya Moton leads the Bulldogs averaging 13.7 points per game.
