CULLOWHEE, N.C. – Western Carolina men's basketball faces The Citadel for the first of two meetings within six days as the Catamounts host the Bulldogs on Monday at Noon inside the Ramsey Center.
Monday's game will be streamed on ESPN+ (
paid subscription required) with audio coverage on the Catamount Sports Network beginning at 11:30 a.m. The teams were originally scheduled to meet on Jan. 2 but was postponed due to positive COVID tests and quarantine requirements.
WCU is 7-9 overall and 0-7 in Southern Conference play after a 75-69 home loss to Furman on Saturday afternoon. Junior
Cory Hightower led the Catamounts with 22 points. Redshirt senior
Mason Faulkner tallied 14 points, a team-best eight rebounds, and dished out seven assists.
The Citadel is 9-5 and 2-5 after a 112-84 road loss to ETSU on Saturday. Hayden Brown led three Bulldogs in double figures with 21 points. Brown currently leads the SoCon in scoring at 21.0 points per game as the Bulldogs come to town averaging a league-best 87.9 ppg but are surrendering a league-worst 79.5 ppg.
The Catamounts lead the all-time series against The Citadel 43-36 having won the last six matchups and 17 of the last 19 overall. Both games during the 2019-20 season were high-scoring affairs, first with an 86-82 WCU win in Charleston on Jan. 4 and a 96-84 triumph on Senior Night on Feb. 22.
WCU remains at home on Wednesday, hosting Chattanooga at 7 p.m.
