With the loss...
  • Western Carolina suffered its seventh-consecutive loss dating back to the spring 2021 … It was also an 11th-straight road loss dating back to 2019;
  • WCU dropped its third-straight in the head-to-head series with Chattanooga including back-to-back losses at Finley Stadium;
  • The loss was also a 45th-consecutive for the Catamounts against nationally-ranked NCAA FCS opponents on the road.
 
Post-Game Notes
  • Western Carolina was limited to 277 total yards of offense on Saturday at Chattanooga, its second-lowest output of the season – and the fewest yards against a NCAA FCS team this fall;
  • Seeing the most extensive action of his career, quarterback Carlos Davis completed a career-high 16 passes for a career-best 225 yards and two touchdowns at No. 19 Chattanooga … Davis;
  • WR Raphael Williams, the SoCon leader in receptions per game entering the weekend, was limited to two catches for 21 yards at Chattanooga, his second-lowest game output this season … Williams hauled in a seven-yard touchdown pass, marking his fourth TD reception of the season, each coming in the last three-consecutive games;
  • WR Terrence Horne caught his first touchdown pass as a Catamount, hauling in a career-long 42-yard touchdown strike from Carols Davis midway through the second quarter;
  • WCU's special teams nearly recorded a pair of kickoff returns for touchdowns in the road loss at Chattanooga … Calvin Jones returned the opening kickoff a season-long 87 yards to the UTC seven-yard line in setting up WCU's first score … Terrence Horne later returned a kickoff 100 yards for a touchdown – but an illegal block penalty negated the return and score;
  • Jones finished with 133 return yards on two kickoff returns while Horne had two returns for 43 yards giving the Catamounts 176 kickoff return yards at UTC;
  • Richard McCollum connected on his sixth field goal of the season in the first quarter, putting the Catamounts on the scoreboard … It was just the second time this season that WCU scored points on its opening possession this season, also hitting a field goal on its first drive in the season-opener against Eastern Kentucky;
  • With six tackles at UTC on Saturday, fifth-year senior LB Ty Harris now has 330 career tackles moving into fifth-place in program history, by-passing both Eric Johnson (326, 1996-98) and Julius Grant (326, 1990-93) … Harris is just 10 tackles shy of second-place in program history;
  • CB Ronald Kent Jr., was credited with a pass breakup on Saturday giving him 24 in his career moving him into a tie for fifth-place in the school record books for passes defended … Kent moved into a tie with Ahmad Green (2000-02), Eric Johnson (1996-98), and Lee McCall (1978-80);
  • DB Rod Gattison came up with his second career interception at WCU on Saturday … WCU has created a takeaway in four of the five games of the season including six interceptions.

  • WCU's captains for Saturday's game were RB #8 Kenny Benjamin … QB #11 Rogan Wells … LB #37 Ty Harris and TE #84 Owen Cosenke … TE #18 Claytaon Bardall carried the American flag during the pregame team entry;
  • Chattanooga won the opening coin toss and elected to defer to the second half … WCU received the opening kickoff.
