Catamount Women's Golf Sixth at Terrier Intercollegiate

Final round slated for a 9:30 a.m. start on Tuesday morning

Spartanburg, S.C. – Freshman Elizabeth Lohbauer shot even-par 144 on Monday to lead Western Carolina to sixth place after 36 of the scheduled 54 holes at the Terrier Intercollegiate being held at the par-72, 6,056-yard Carolina Country Club. The Catamounts posted rounds of 304 and 295 for a two-round score of 599, just three strokes outside of the Top Five.
 
Lohbauer carded a tournament-best 28 pars over the opening 36 holes on Monday, countering four bogies with four birdies for the even-par start. A product of Venice, Fla., Lohbauer shot 1-over par 73 in the first round and 1-under par 71 in the second to climb five spots in the standings.
 
Freshman Kaitlyn Wingnean posted rounds of 76 and 75 for a 36-hole score of 151 to sit tied for 23rd overall, a stroke ahead of junior Victoria Ladd in a tie for 25th with a score of 152. Ladd bounced back from an opening-round 7-over par 79 with a 1-over 73 in the second round, gaining 31 positions in the standings over the second 18 holes. On the par-5 18th in the first round, Ladd had an eagle and charted four birdies in round two, while Wingnean led the Catamounts with seven birdies on Monday, tied for eighth in the field.
 
Rounding out WCU's scoring five are senior Madison Isaacson and redshirt freshman Kayleigh Baker who are both among a tie with seven others for 51st overall at 156. Isaacson rebounded by four strokes in the second round in shooting 76 to advance 11 spots, while Baker opened with a 4-over par round of 76 that included four birdies. Isaacson carded three birdies on the day.
 
After two rounds, Lipscomb holds a six-stroke lead over Eastern Kentucky as the Lady Bison shot 574 with the Colonels sitting at 580. USC Upstate is third, 17 strokes off the pace at 591, followed by Central Michigan (592) and Samford (596) rounding out the top five. WCU enters the final 18 holes in sixth at 599.
 
Rylea Marcum of EKU leads the 90-golfer field with a six-under-par 138. She's followed by a trio of Lipscomb golfers led by Lauren Thompson in the runner-up position at 4-under 140.
 
Paired with golfers from Central Michigan and Samford, WCU's scoring five hits the course at 9:30 a.m. with a shotgun start between the fourth and sixth holes. Live scoring is available online through GolfStat.
