With the loss...
  • Western Carolina saw its three-game seasonal win streak snapped;
  • WCU dropped its second-straight in the head-to-head series with ETSU, halting a two-game series win streak in games played in Cullowhee;
  • The highly-competitive all-time series between WCU and ETSU is tied -- 25-25-1;
  • ETSU retained possession of the traveling trophy in the "Blue Ridge Border Battle" mountain rivalry matchup;
  • The loss was also a sixth-consecutive for the Catamounts against nationally-ranked NCAA FCS opponents, dropping the Catamounts to 12-84-3 all-time and 9-37 at home.

Post-Game Notes:
  • For just the second time this season, Western Carolina's high-octane offense was held off the scoreboard in a half as ETSU pitched a shutout after surrendering 35 first-half points  … the only other time WCU was held scoreless in a half was at  Oklahoma, which didn't allow a WCU score;
  • WCU scored a season-best 35 points in the first quarter on Saturday … It was the third time this season that the Catamounts had posted 30-or-more points in the opening half – 31 points at The Citadel, 34 points at Wofford, and the 35-point opening half vs. ETSU;
  • Calvin Jones returned a second-quarter kickoff 95 yards for a touchdown on Saturday against ETSU … the 95-yard sprint represented WCU's first kickoff return for a touchdown since Detrez Newsome took a kickoff 93 yards back for a score at South Carolina (Nov. 19, 2016) … It was also the first kickoff return for a score allowed by ETSU since the 2017 season;
  • Second-year WR Jakobe Quillen tallied his first career receiving touchdown on a 51-yard strike from Rogan Wells in the first quarter;
  • Fifth-year senior TE Owen Cosenke caught his 13 career touchdown pass on a 15-yard reception midway through the second quarter … Cosenke has two receiving TDs this season coming the past two weeks;
  • WR Raphael Williams posted his fifth, 100-yard receiving game of the season, catching five passes for 138 yards with a 54-yard scoring reception;
  • Following Saturday's game, Williams has 70 receptions this season, the fifth-most by a Catamount in a single-season … He by-passed Eddie Cohen's 67 receptions in the 2007 season and is just four catches shy of second in the single-season ledgers … His 914 receiving yards are just 86 shy of 1,000 for the season which would make him just the 10th Catamount all-time;
  • Williams recorded his eighth receiving touchdown of the season on the 54-yard pitch-and-catch in the second quarter … He moved into a tie for eighth in the WCU single-season record books, matching Owen Cosenke (8, 2018), Michael Banks (8, 2000), and Kerry Hayes (8, 1992);
  • QB Rogan Wells posted his fifth, 300+ yard passing performance of the season on Saturday with 385 yards against ETSU … Wells has 2,196 passing yards this season to rank 13th in WCU's single-season record books, while his 176 completions rank 12th in the record books … With four passing TDs on Saturday, Wells has 16 on the year, tied with three others for sixth in the in the ledgers (Tyrie Adams, 2018; Mike Pusey, 1979; Don Dalton, 1969);
  • With 460 yards of total offense against ETSU, Rogan Wells posted his fourth game of the season with 400-or-more yards – at Gardner-Webb, 540; vs. Furman – 478; vs. ETSU – 460; vs. Samford – 441 … With 2,664 yards of total offense this season, Wells ranks ninth in WCU's single-season history, by-passing Lonnie Galloway (2,551 yards, 1993);
  • Wells tossed four touchdown passes in the loss marking his second four-TD pass game this season;
  • Senior LB Kareem Taylor posted his seventh double-digit tackle performance of the season with 12 tackles against ETSU … Jacob Harris matched Taylor with a career-best 12 tackles, his third double-digit tackle outing this season and second in a row;
  • PK Richard McCollum hit all five of his PAT attempts on Saturday, extending his active streak to 49-consecutve successful tries.
