Catamounts Host Presbyterian Tuesday for Noon Education Day Game

Annual Education Day game returns to the Ramsey Center

CULLOWHEE, N.C. - Western Carolina women's basketball hosts Presbyterian at noon Tuesday as part of the annual Education Day game on Ingles Court at the Ramsey Center. Area school children are invited to enjoy the lunchtime event.

AN INSIDE LOOK AT THE CATAMOUNTS:
  • Western Carolina and Presbyterian meet for the fourth time in the two school's history. The two schools first met in December of 1988 with the Catamounts winning in Cullowhee 76-67. After a 25-year hiatus, the two teams met again in 2013 with WCU winning in Clinton, S.C. 52-38. The Blue Hose got their first program victory over WCU on Nov. 22, 2014, winning in the Ramsey Center 51-44. Heading into Tuesday's contest the Catamounts lead the series 2-1 and are 1-1 at home against the Blue Hose. 
  • Vanessa Oduah scored 26 points against UNCA a career-high as a Catamount and the first WCU player of the young season to score 20 or more points. It is the most scored by a Catamount since 2019.
  • This is the first Education Day game the Catamounts have played in two years due to the COVID-19 pandemic. WCU's last Education Day game was on Nov. 18, 2019, against UNCA. 
  • The Catamounts have scored 70 or more points in back-to-back games for the first time since the 2016-17 season.
 
  AN INSIDE LOOK AT PRESBYTERIAN:
  • Presbyterian is matching up with its second consecutive team from the Southern Conference. The Blue Hose lost at Furman 39-18 on Nov. 12.
  • The Blue Hose enters Tuesday's game having lost its first two games to open the 2021-22 season. 
  • The game with the Catamounts is Presbyterian's third-straight road game. 
  • Bryanna Brady leads the Blue Hose averaging eight points per game. 
  • Through the first two games, Presbyterian has had one player score in double figures in the first two games of the year.
