Catamounts Set to Face Alabama Friday

Final game of two-game road swing

CULLOWHEE, N.C. - Western Carolina women's basketball concludes its two-game road swing Friday at Alabama. Tip-off is set for 3 p.m. E.T. / 2 p.m. C.T.

AN INSIDE LOOK AT THE CATAMOUNTS:
  • Western Carolina and Alabama meet for the first time on Friday. The Catamounts last faced off against a team from the Southeastern Conference on Dec. 18, 2018, when WCU lost at Kentucky 99-39.
    The Crimson Tide will be playing their second consecutive team from the Southern Conference as they faced off against Mercer on Nov. 24.
  • The 46 points given up by Western Carolina, in the loss at Cincinnati, was a season-low for the Catamounts. It is the third time on the year WCU has held an opponent under 50 points.
  • Tembre Moates hit her first three-pointer in a game, at Cincinnati Tuesday, since Feb. 25, 2017, against UNCG. She has three for her career.
  • Three of Western Carolina's first five games on the season have been decided by two points or less. The Catamounts are 1-2 in games with that margin.
  • Junior Vanessa Oduah hit the first three-pointer by a Catamount in two games draining a total of three at Cincinnati on Tuesday. She leads the Catamounts averaging 12.4 points per game. 
  • The Catamounts currently ranks 15th in the NCAA in rebound margin with a tally of 15.4 and 51st in total rebounds with 206.
  • Western Carolina is allowing 53.4 points per game which rank third in the Southern Conference and 51st in the NCAA.
  • The Catamounts have two players averaging in double figures led by Oduah's 12.4 points per game followed by Nadia Marshall with 11.8.
 
AN INSIDE LOOK AT ALABAMA:
  • Alabama's game with Western Carolina is the second of five games in 10 days for the Crimson Tide.
  • The Crimson Tide will be playing their second consecutive team from the Southern Conference as they faced off against Mercer on Nov. 24 defeating the Bears 55-48. 
  • The 55 points scored by Alabama against Mercer is a season-low for the Crimson Tide.
  • Brittany Davis leads the Crimson Tide averaging 18.8 points per game.
