Catamounts Return Home Monday to Host Mars Hill

First of two-game homestand

CULLOWHEE, N.C. - Western Carolina women's basketball returns home Monday to the friendly confines of Ingles Court at the Ramsey Center hosting Mars Hill at 7 p.m.

AN INSIDE LOOK AT THE CATAMOUNTS:
  • Western Carolina and Mars Hill meet for the 38th time on Monday. The Catamounts are 37-0 against the Mountain Lions. Officially, not including games listed as an exhibition for the Catamounts, Western Carolina and Mars Hill last met exactly 24 years ago, Nov. 29, 1997, with WCU winning in Cullowhee, 79-72. Western Carolina is 27-0 at home against Mars Hill. The two teams first met on Mar. 11, 1966 with the Catamounts winning 69-45. The largest margin of victory came on Jan. 19, 1983 with WCU winning 100-61.
  • Western Carolina returns home Monday against Mars Hill for the start of a two-game home stand after a two-game road swing. The Catamounts will complete its two-game home contests on Wednesday against USC Upstate as part of a doubleheader with men's basketball.
  • Three of the first six games, for Western Carolina, have been decided by two points or less.
  • Western Carolina has out-rebounded opponents in five of the first six games of the season. Alabama was the first team this season that out-rebounded the Catamounts. 
  • Western Carolina's 3-3 record, over the first six games, is the best start by the Catamounts since going 3-3 in the 2014-15 season.
  • Endia Holliday ranks 12th in the NCAA for free throw percentage at 95 percent and first in the SoCon.
 
AN INSIDE LOOK AT MARS HILL:
  • Mars Hill will play its third game in as many days when it faces off against Western Carolina Monday. Two of the three games were and are against NCAA Division I opponents. The Mountain Lions lost at USC Upstate 102-40 on Nov. 28.
  • The Mountain Lions faced the Catamount's upcoming opponent USC Upstate on Sunday.
  • Mars Hill is still searching for its first win of the season.
