Arden, N.C. – Western Carolina has three golfers inside the individual top 10 after 36 of the scheduled 54 holes at the French Broad Collegiate Invitational as the Catamounts enter Wednesday's final round in the runner-up spot, a stroke off the pace behind Southern Conference foe Wofford at the par-71, 5,937-yard course at The Cliffs at Walnut Cove.
Senior
Madison Isaacson enters the fall's final 18 holes amidst a four-way tie for first with a two-round score of 5-over par 147. The Greensboro, N.C., native is tied with the High Point duo of Sarah Kahn and Minonna Falkman Lehes and Praew Nontarux of USC Upstate. Isaacson carded a second-round 5-over par 76 with a trio of bogeys and one double-bogey, posting 14 of her tournament-leading 26 pars, including seven straight to conclude the day.
On Tuesday, Freshman
Elizabeth Lohbauer posted WCU's best round, climbing seven spots in the standings into a tie for fifth just a stroke off the leading pace. The first-year striker countered five bogeys with a pair of birdies to shoot 2-over par 73 for the two-round score of 148.
Sophomore
Trinity Ahing advanced two spots by matching her opening-round 4-over par 75 on Tuesday to move into a five-way tie for 10th. Ahing has a team-best six birdies over the first two rounds of the tournament, three in both rounds. Redshirt freshman
Kayleigh Baker matched Lohbauer by moving up seven positions into a tie for 21st by shooting three-strokes better in the second round with a 4-over 75. Baker, who ranks tied for third in the field with 22 pars through the opening 36 holes, was 1-under through nine holes on Tuesday before coming home 5-over on the back nine.
Wofford carded a tournament-low team round of 296 Tuesday and carries a one-stroke lead over WCU into Wednesday's final round, 597-to-598. High Point shot consecutive rounds of 301 to sit five strokes off the pace in third at 602, with Gardner-Webb (604) and Eastern Kentucky (610) rounding out the top five.
Paired with golfers from Wofford and High Point, WCU hits the course on the front nine between at 11:30 am and 12:06 pm in the final scheduled round of the fall semester. Live scoring through GolfStat is available through an online link at CatamountSports.com.
