Catamounts Travel to South Carolina State Sunday

Final game before break for finals

CULLOWHEE, N.C. - Western Carolina women's basketball hits the road Sunday traveling to South Carolina State for a 2 p.m. tip-off.

AN INSIDE LOOK AT THE CATAMOUNTS:
  • Western Carolina and South Carolina State meet for the fifth time with each team having won two games a-piece. The Catamounts won the last meeting on Jan. 26, 2021, 53-43 in Cullowhee. Western Carolina is 0-1 at South Carolina State dropping the lone game, in the series, in Orangeburg 75-45 on Dec. 16, 2017.
  • South Carolina State and Western Carolina have played two common opponents this season as both teams took losses to USC Upstate and Campbell. 
  • Western Carolina is looking to snap a four-game losing streak at South Carolina and pick up its first road win of the season.
  • Western Carolina had three players score in double figures against Tennessee Tech on Dec. 9 after failing to have a double figurer scorer at Campbell Dec. 6. 
  • The game at South Carolina completes a stretch of four games in eight days for WCU.  
  • Redshirt junior Nadia Marshall leads the Catamounts averaging 12.5 points and 7.5 rebounds per game. 
 
 AN INSIDE LOOK AT SOUTH CAROLINA STATE:
  • South Carolina State is 0-8 to open the season and 0-4 at home. 
  • The Bulldogs are averaging 51.5 points per game and giving up 76.
  • South Carolina State is averaging 25 turnovers per game and facing a Catamount team averaging 21.4 per contest. 
  • The Bulldogs will play their first game in eight days having last played Dec. 4 falling at N.C. A&T 86-46.
