CULLOWHEE, N.C. – Western Carolina men's basketball returns to Ingles Court at the Ramsey Center for the first of two home contests this week as the Catamounts host Tennessee Tech on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
Admission to the game between Catamounts and Golden Eagles is $11 for adults and $6 for youth 12 and under. Kids 2 and under get in free. WCU students gain free admission to the game by showing their Cat Card at the Northwest Entrance and are encouraged to sit in the Cat Cage student section located in sections QR. Fans are encouraged to review WCU's Clear Bag policy and parking maps located in the right column.
The game will be streamed on ESPN+ (
paid subscription required) with live audio coverage on the Catamount Sports Network beginning at 6:30 p.m. Free live stats will also be available via a link on catamountsports.com.
WCU is 5-4 and has won two straight – and four of its last five overall – following a 78-73 triumph at USC Upstate on Saturday night.
Nicholas Robinson led the Catamounts with 14 points including the go-ahead 3-pointer with 2:36 remaining.
Travion McCray added 12 points and also grabbed a critical defensive rebound on a missed would-be game-tying 3-pointer by the Spartans with under a minute left.
Marcus Banks and
Marvin Price both tallied 11 points followed by
Cam Bacote with 10. This marked the second time this season that the Catamounts won consecutive games as WCU picked up wins over American and Longwood on Nov. 20 and 21.
The Catamounts are averaging 76.8 points per game to date this season with an average of 12.4 made 3-pointers per game – second in the SoCon behind VMI at 13.2 but ranks fourth overall in the NCAA with its 112 made 3-pointers ranking fifth nationally.
Tennessee Tech is 2-6 and has lost three straight after a 59-51 setback at Evansville on Saturday. Jr. Clay led the Golden Eagles with 15 points with John Pettway adding 10 points off the bench. Clay leads Tennessee Tech with an average of 12.1 points per game and is joined in double figures by Keishawn Davidson with 11.5 points per game. The Golden Eagles are averaging 70.5 points per game and have two losses to SoCon-foe Chattanooga and a six-point defeat to WCU's weekend opponent, falling to UNC Asheville 61-55.
Wednesday's game is the ninth all-time meeting between the schools with Tennessee Tech leading the series 5-3. The Catamounts have grounded the Golden Eagles the last two seasons, winning a 76-75 overtime thriller in Cullowhee on Dec. 6, 2020 and using a hot-shooting night from the field for an 89-76 victory in Cookeville, Tenn. on Dec. 21, 2019.
The Catamounts welcome mountain rival UNC Asheville for a 2 p.m. matchup on Saturday. The Catamounts have won four straight games over the Bulldogs and have won eight of the last 10 matchups between the schools. Saturday's game will be streamed on ESPN+ (
