AN INSIDE LOOK AT THE CATAMOUNTS:
  • Western Carolina and Chattanooga meet for the 91st and 92nd time this week. The Mocs hold a 78-12 record over the Catamounts. Western Carolina did snap a 21-game losing streak to Chattanooga in the two team's last meeting in McKenzie Arena as WCU defeated the Mocs 61-53 on Nov. 8, 2020. The win at the Mocs' home base was also the first for the Catamounts since 2009. Overall, WCU is 6-35 against the Mocs in Chattanooga. The longest winning streak for Western Carolina against Chattanooga is two in the 2007 season. The Catamounts are 1-9 over the last 10 games against the Mocs as WCU averages 59 points per game all-time against Chattanooga.
  • The two conference wins this season equals the total of SoCon wins the team had in 2019-20. Should Western Carolina notch a third win in conference play this season it will be the most conference wins for the Catamounts since notching three in the 2016-17 season. The last time WCU won more than three conference games was 2013-14 when the Catamounts amassed seven.
  • Redshirt sophomore Nadia Marshall has scored in double figures in four of the last five games scoring a career-high 26 points and 17 rebounds, in the Feb. 4 game against Mercer, for her third double-double of the season. She is averaging 8.8 points and 7.0 rebounds per game and leads the team with 112 rebounds per game. Her 26 points is the fourth time a Catamount player has scored 20 or more points and her 26 points is the most scored by a WCU player this season.
  • In the six games Marshall has started, she has scored in double figures in four of those games and averaged 11.6 points and 9.6 rebounds per game.
  • The Catamounts have two players averaging in double figures. Rookie Zanoria Cruz leads the Catamounts averaging 11.1 points per game while Kyla Allison follows with 10.4. Cruz ranks 11th in the SoCon for points per game and is the only conference freshman in the top 11 in scoring in the SoCon.

AN INSIDE LOOK AT THE MOCS:

  • The Mocs are 3-4 at home this season.
  • Eboni Williams leads the Mocs averaging 14.4 points per game.
