CULLOWHEE, N.C. – Western Carolina looks for its second straight win on Saturday as the Catamounts head to the Upstate of South Carolina to take on Furman at 2 p.m. on campus inside Timmons Arena.
Saturday's game will be streamed on ESPN+ (paid subscription required) with live audio on the Catamount Sports Network beginning at 1:30 p.m. The game was originally scheduled to be played at Noon at Bon Secours Wellness Arena in downtown Greenville but was moved back to campus because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
WCU is 9-11 overall and 2-9 in the Southern Conference after a 74-72 home win over VMI on Wednesday night. Sophomore
Xavier Cork scored a career-high 23 points, going 10-15 from the field and 3-for-4 at the free throw line. Cork also grabbed five rebounds. Redshirt senior
Mason Faulkner tallied 19 points including six points in the final minute of regulation to help secure the win. Junior
Cory Hightower also finished in double figures with 13 points and pulled down seven rebounds.
Furman is 12-7 on the season and 6-4 in league games after a 64-58 road loss to UNCG in a nationally televised game on Wednesday afternoon. Clay Mounce was the lone Paladin to finish in double figures with 19 points. On Monday, Furman defeated UNCG 68-49 in Greenville.
The Catamounts and Paladins have met 78 previous times with Furman holding a 49-29 advantage in the all-time series. On Jan. 30, Furman claimed a 75-69 in Cullowhee for its 10
th straight series win.
WCU remains on the road Wednesday, heading to Chattanooga for a 7 p.m. start. The game will be streamed on ESPN+ (paid subscription required) with audio available on the Catamount Sports Network.
