CULLOWHEE, N.C. – Playing the return meeting less than a week after scoring a last-second victory over The Citadel, the Western Carolina men's basketball team vies for the regular-season sweep of the Bulldogs on Saturday as the Catamounts travel to Charleston and McAlister Field House for a 1 p.m. tip-off.
Saturday's game will be streamed on ESPN+ (
paid subscription required) with live audio available via the Catamount Sports Network beginning at 12:30 p.m.
On Monday, WCU emerged with a 76-75 win in the Ramsey Center following redshirt senior
Mason Faulkner's go-ahead bucket with 5.5 seconds to play. Sophomore
Xavier Cork sealed the win with a block of Hayden Brown's layup with less than a second remaining.
WCU is 8-10 overall and 1-8 in league play after a 74-67 setback at home against Chattanooga on Wednesday night. All five of WCU's starters finished in double figures led by Cork with 18 points. The Catamounts were hurt by 16 turnovers that resulted in 21 Chattanooga points.
The Citadel is 9-7 overall and 2-7 in the SoCon after an 85-66 defeat at the hands of UNCG on Wednesday. Brown topped the Bulldog scoring output with 19 points.
The Catamounts lead the all-time series against The Citadel 44-36 having won the last seven matchups and 18 of the last 20 overall. WCU is 16-20 all-time in Charleston and has won in its last seven visits to the Lowcountry.
WCU is back at home next Wednesday (Feb. 10) hosting VMI at 7 p.m. The game will be streamed on ESPN+ (
