Soccer Hosts ETSU Friday at New Time - 3:00 PM

Catamounts look to bounce back

CULLOWHEE, N.C. – Western Carolina women's soccer match with ETSU has been moved up to 3 p.m. Friday from its originally scheduled time of 7 p.m. at the Catamount Soccer Complex.

  AN INSIDE LOOK AT THE CATAMOUNTS:
  • The Catamounts and Buccaneers meet for the 18th time on Friday with WCU holding a slight 8-7-2 advantage. Western Carolina has won two of the last three meetings including a 2-1 overtime victory in Johnson City in 2019. Both of WCU's wins in the last three contests against ETSU have come at the Bucs' stadium as the Catamounts lost 1-0 in Cullowhee in 2018. Overall, the Catamounts are 3-3-1 against ETSU at home.
  • Western Carolina and is suffering through a three-game losing streak having lost to UNCG at home and on the road at Samford and Chattanooga.
  • Seniors Regan Ward and Maryanne Kilgore each lead the Catamounts with two goals.
  • Freshman Maggie Lloyd scored her first goal as a Catamount in the 2-1 loss to Chattanooga on Sunday.
  • Western Carolina scored its first goal in 241 minutes with the goal in the first half against Chattanooga.
  • Western Carolina has scored five goals on the season and given up nine. The Catamounts have also recorded two shutouts.
 
AN INSIDE LOOK AT ETSU:
  • ETSU enters Friday's match with a record of 1-4-1 with a 2-1 win over UNCG and a 1-1 tie against VMI in conference play. Like Western Carolina, the Bucs are looking to find a way to get more balls into the back of the net as they have six goals on the season. ETSU has scored six goals on the year and given up 13. Jocelyn Nehls leads the Buc with two goals scored.
