Tennis Closes Out Season at Wofford and Mercer

Final matches of the season

CULLOWHEE, N.C. – Western Carolina women's tennis closes out the regular season this weekend traveling to Wofford on Saturday and Mercer on Sunday.

Wofford and Western Carolina meet for the 25th time on Saturday. The Bulldogs hold a 22-2 advantage over the Catamounts. WCU's last win over Wofford came on Mar. 25, 2018, with the Catamounts edging the Bulldogs 4-3 in Cullowhee. Western Carolina is 0-12 at Wofford.

Sunday's match at Mercer is the two team's 12th meeting with the Bears leading the series 9-2. The Catamounts' last win over Mercer came in Macon, Ga. winning 4-3 on Mar. 7, 2015. Mercer has won the last four matches against the Catamounts.

The Catamounts are coming off a 6-1 loss to Samford in the Catamounts' final home match of the season.

Freshman Antonella Benavides leads the Catamounts with 10 wins in singles play with seven at No. 5 singles and three at No. 4 singles.

Junior Jacy Smith paces the club in doubles wins with nine on the season. All nine of her victories in doubles have come at No. 1 doubles. She is 4-1 in conference play at No. 1 doubles.
