2020 Catamount Football Media Guide Honored by CoSIDA

WCU’s football guide received honors for best cover design

Cullowhee, N.C. – Western Carolina's 2020 Catamount Football media guide was recognized today as award winners in the 2020-21 College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Publications and Digital Design Contests were announced on the heels of the CoSIDA 2021 Virtual Convention (#CoSIDA21).

WCU's 2020 football media guide was honored with the "Best Cover" distinction within the NCAA FCS Football division. It's the second-straight year that WCU's guide received best cover plaudits.

The covers for WCU's 2020 football media guide were designed by Daniel Hooker with element assistance from Todd Charles. Photos for the covers were taken by Ashley Evans in WCU's University Communications and Marketing (UCM).

A complete listing of the CoSIDA Publication and Design Award winners was released this week online at CoSIDA.com. This year there were a total of 509 entries submitted in graphic design, media guide and video categories at each level of competition having the opportunity to receive recognition for their work. From the SoCon, Chattanooga's 2020 football media guide and Wofford's baseball guide both received "second in the nation" honors.

Western Carolina's football publication has been recognized by CoSIDA for each of the past four years, earning its first recognition with a "Second in the Nation" honor in 2018 for the 2017 football guide. WCU's 2019 and 2020 football publications received a citation for excellence in publications with the "First in the Nation" denotation.

Western Carolina opens the 2021 football season on Labor Day weekend, kicking off the season on Saturday, Sept. 4 against Eastern Kentucky at E.J. Whitmire Stadium / Bob Waters Field. Official game times for each of WCU's five home dates, as well as additional game-day promotions and broadcast plans will be announced in the coming days.
