Catamounts Travel to Chattanooga Thursday

First of two-game conference road swing

CULLOWHEE, N.C. - Western Carolina women's basketball begins a two-game Southern Conference road swing Thursday traveling to Chattanooga for a 7 p.m. tip-off.

AN INSIDE LOOK AT THE CATAMOUNTS:
  • Western Carolina and Chattanooga meet for the 93rd time on Thursday. The Mocs lead the series 80-12 and have won the last two meetings including a 72-58 victory at Chattanooga on Feb. 13, 2021. The Mocs have won nine of the last 10 meetings. The Catamounts' last victory came at Chattanooga on Feb. 8, 2020, with a 61-53 win. Overall, Chattanooga is 37-6 against Western Carolina in McKenzie Arena.
  • The Catamounts have hit four or more three-pointers in the last six games. WCU has hit 36 of its 69 total three-pointers this season in the last six contests.
  • Junior Vanessa Oduah has scored in double figures in back-to-back games and three of the last four.
  • Sophomore Joi Reid notched the first double-double of her career with a career-high 11 points and 11 rebounds against Mercer Jan. 15. She also leads the team with 11 blocks - six of those in conference games this season.
  • Nadia Marshall has led the team in rebounding in 10 of the 18 games this season. She has 128 rebounds on the year - which leads the team. That mark ranks fifth for overall rebounds in the SoCon. That mark ranks 82nd in the NCAA.
  • Marshall also leads the Catamounts in scoring averaging 10.9 points per game.
 
 AN INSIDE LOOK AT CHATTANOOGA:
  • Three of Chattanooga's four wins this season have been in conference.
  • The Mocs are 1-6 at home in the 2021-22 season.
  • Abbey Cornelius leads the Mocs averaging 13.1 points per game.
  • In conference only games Amaria Pugh is averaging 17.7 points per game and shooting 57.9 percent from the field in three conference games played.
