CULLOWHEE, N.C. – Western Carolina men's basketball continues its three-game Southern Conference road trip on Saturday afternoon as the Catamounts head to Hawkins Arena in Macon, Ga., to face Mercer at 5 p.m.
Saturday's game will be streamed on ESPN+ (
paid subscription required) with live Catamount Sports Network audio coverage commencing at 4:30 p.m., streaming online at CatamountSports.com and can be heard locally on 105.7 FM / 540 AM WRGC, The River.
WCU is 8-11 overall and 2-4 in the SoCon after an 88-50 setback at Furman on Wednesday night.
Vonterius Woolbright led the Catamounts with 14 points and seven rebounds and was joined in double figures by
Marvin Price with 11 points.
Mercer enters Saturday's game with an 11-8 overall and a 4-2 league mark after a 72-64 loss at ETSU on Wednesday that knocked the Bears out of first place. James Glisson III and Felipe Haase both tallied 17 points. The Bears opened the week with a 71-64 road win on Monday over The Citadel. Haase ranks eighth in the SoCon in seasonal scoring at 15.6 points per game and paces the league in 3-point field goal shooting at 49-percent from beyond the arc.
The two teams have met 22 previous times with the all-time series tied at 11 games apiece. Both teams protected home court a year ago with Mercer earning a 78-76 win on Jan. 16 in Macon and the Catamounts closing out the regular season with an 85-61 triumph on Feb. 27 at the Ramsey Center. Mercer has won the last five matchups inside Hawkins Arena.
