Catamounts Travel to ETSU Saturday for Noon Tilt

CULLOWHEE, N.C. - Western Carolina women's basketball completes a two-game road swing traveling to ETSU Saturday for a noon tip-off.

AN INSIDE LOOK AT THE CATAMOUNTS:
  • Western Carolina and ETSU meet for the 77th time on Saturday. The Buccaneers hold a 53-23 advantage over the Catamounts. WCU halted a 13-game losing streak against ETSU Feb. 23, 2021 in Johnson City defeating the Bucs 62-48. The Catamounts are 1-9 against ETSU over the last 10 games. Overall, WCU is 5-31 at ETSU. The two teams first met on Feb. 16, 1969 with the Catamounts edging the Bucs 27-21. WCU's largest margin of victory over ETSU was 104-67 on Feb. 27, 1993.
  • Western Carolina has hit four or more three-pointers in the last seven games and connected on the second-most this season with eight against Chattanooga.  The Catamounts have hit 44 of its 77 three-pointers this season in the last seven games.
  • Sophomore Joi Reid has collected at least one block in five of the last six games and leads the team with 12. Her 12 blocks are the most by a Catamount since Jewel Small had 17 in the 2019-20 campaign.  She has hit seven of her 12 blocks in conference games.
  • Western Carolina committed a season-low eight turnovers against Chattanooga Jan. 20.
  • As a team, the Catamounts lead the SoCon in steals with 147 and 84th in the NCAA.

AN INSIDE LOOK AT ETSU:
  • ETSU is on a 13-game losing streak. The last Buccaneer win was Nov. 14, 2021 – a 66-54 win against Cornell.
  • The Buccaneers have scored under 60 points in the last 10 games.
  • Carly Hooks leads the Bucs in scoring, averaging 9.1 points per game. Hooks has led he team in scoring in seven of the 16 games.
