Catamounts Host UNCG Saturday in Second game of DH

First of three-game home stand

CULLOWHEE, N.C. - Western Carolina women's basketball hosts UNCG at 5 p.m. Saturday in the second game of a doubleheader with men's basketball. Catamount men's basketball hosts Samford at 2 p.m. on Ingles Court in the Ramsey Center.

AN INSIDE LOOK AT THE CATAMOUNTS:
  • Western Carolina and UNCG meet for the 78th time on Saturday. The Catamounts lead the series 41-36 overall but the Spartans have won eight of the last 10 meetings. WCU halted a six-game winning streak against UNCG winning Jan. 10, 2021, in Greensboro 49-42. UNCG forced the split of the series, in the 2020-21 season, defeating the Catamounts 54-42 in Cullowhee on Feb. 26, 2021. Western Carolina is 25-20 all-time against UNCG at home.
  • Western Carolina has hit 37 of its 81 three-pointers this season in conference games.
  • With 807 career points, Tembre Moates becomes just the third player, since the 2017-18, season to score 800 or more points in her career. The other two were Sherae Bonner (878 points, 2014-18) and Lauren LaPlant 834, 2016-21).
  • In conference only games, Vanessa Oduah has hit 10 of her 19 three-pointers this season in conference only games.

AN INSIDE LOOK AT UNCG:
  • The Spartans claimed their first Southern Conference win of the sea­son last week with a 56-38 win over ETSU Bucs.
  • As a team, UNCG has allowed 56.5 points by their opponents. They con­tinue to lead the conference in scor­ing defense.
  • UNCG is second in the conference in field goal percentage defense (.385), rebounding offense (38.1), rebounding defense (33.2), blocked shots (2.9), of­fensive rebounds (13.9), and offensive rebounding percentage (.382).
