Catamounts Head to The Citadel for Make-Up Match

Coming off win over VMI Sunday

CULLOWHEE, N.C. – Western Carolina women's soccer travels to Charleston, S.C. Tuesday for a make-up match with The Citadel. Kick-off on the pitch is set for 3 p.m.

AN INSIDE LOOK AT THE CATAMOUNTS:
  • The Catamounts scored a season-high four goals in the victory over VMI.
  • The 37 shots taken by the Catamounts against VMI is the third most in program history. The mark was two behind tying for second when WCU had 39 against The Citadel in 2007.
  • Western Carolina went 1-0-1 over the weekend playing to a 0-0 tie against UNCG. The Catamounts shutout the Spartans for the second-straight match and the fifth time in the two program's history with each other.
  • Maggie Lloyd and Sophie Burchfield each lead the Catamounts with three goals apiece.
  • Lloyd, Naya Marcil and Alexis DeMarco each have three assists.
  • The Catamounts have scored 12 goals, 11 offensively, and given up 18.
  • Western Carolina has five shutouts on the year.
  • Katelyn Galbraith scored the first penalty kick of her career sailing her shot past the VMI goalie on Sunday, Oct. 9. It was also the Catamounts' first made penalty kick of the season.
  • Western Carolina and The Citadel meet for the 22nd time on Thursday. The Catamounts hold a record of 18-2-1 over the Bulldogs and have won 10 of the last 11 with one tie in the 2021 spring campaign. WCU is 7-0-1 at The Citadel. The Catamounts have shut out The Citadel in three of the last four matches. 
 
AN INSIDE LOOK AT THE CITADEL:
  • The Citadel is on a two-match winning streak after shutting out Furman (2-0) and Wofford (1-0) this past weekend.
  • The Bulldogs are 4-2 at home this season.
  • Suzuka Yosue paces the Bulldogs with 11 goals and 11 assists.
  • The Citadel has scored 43 goals on the season and given up 22.
  • The Citadel has notched six shutouts on the year.
  • Western Carolina and The Citadel have one common nonconference opponent as they both played Navy earlier in the season. The Bulldogs lost 2-0 while The Catamounts played to a 0-0 tie.
