AN INSIDE LOOK AT THE CATAMOUNTS:
  • Junior Mya Love scored a career-high 23 points at Presbyterian Tuesday. She bested her previous career-high of 21 sets while she was at Arkansas State against Louisiana in 2021.
  • Freshman Reagan Trumm picked up her first start as a Catamount at Presbyterian. She turned that start into her best performance so far this season scoring a career-best 15 points. She also connected on a career-high four three-pointers.
  • Western Carolina has played in two one-point games in the last three. The Catamounts are 1-1 in one-point games this season.
  • The Catamounts have had at least one double-figurer scorer in the first four games. The Catamounts have had two or more double-figure scorers in three of the first four games.
  • USC Upstate is the third of six Big South members the Catamounts will face this season. WCU defeated Winthrop 48-47 on Nov. 10 and lost to Presbyterian (Nov. 15) 68-67 and now tangle with USC Upstate (Nov. 18), Charleston Southern (Nov. 23), UNCA (Nov. 28), and Campbell (Dec. 6).
  • Love leads the Catamounts in scoring averaging 11.3 points per game.
  • Western Carolina and USC Upstate meet for the 16th time on Friday. The Catamounts hold a slight 8-7 advantage over the Spartans but USC Upstate has won the last two meetings. The Spartans won in overtime in 2021, in Cullowhee, 58-51. The Catamounts' last win over USC Upstate was in 2018 defeating the Spartans 68-64 in OT. Two of the last three meetings between the two teams have gone overtime. Western Carolina's longest winning streak over USC Upstate is five and a loss on Friday would tie the longest losing streak to the Spartans.
AN INSIDE LOOK AT USC UPSTATE:
  • USC Upstate is looking to rebound just like Western Carolina as the Spartans are also on a two-game losing streak. The Spartans have scored under 35 points in the last two games including 24 points in the loss to No. 13 Virginia Tech.
  • USC Upstate's match-up with Western Carolina is the first of back-to-back games against Southern Conference opponents. After facing off against the Catamounts, the Spartans will travel to Greensboro, N.C. to play UNCG on Nov. 23.
  • Isabella Geraci leads the Spartans with 29 points, averaging 9.7 points a game, along with 20 rebounds, five assists, eight steals, and averaging 33.0 minutes a game.
