Catamounts get the win over Campbell

CULLOWHEE, N.C. - Western Carolina women's basketball travels to Clemson on Saturday for a 2 p.m. matchup with the Tigers in Littlejohn Coliseum.

AN INSIDE LOOK AT THE CATAMOUNTS:
  • Western Carolina ended its three-game home stand 2-1 with wins over Queens and Campbell. WCU is currently 4-1 at home this season.
  • In the last three games, Mya Love is averaging 12 points per game followed by Kyla Allison's 11.7. Audrey Meyers tops the Catamounts, in that three-game span, ripping down 6.7 rebounds per game. Overall, as a team, the Catamounts are shooting 63.6 percent from the free throw line but in the last three WCU is shooting 77.4 percent.  
  • The Catamounts will play back-to-back games this weekend traveling to Clemson on Saturday and returning home to host Montreat on Sunday.
  • Meyers has had a strong showing over the last three games. In the Catamounts' three games last week, Meyers averaged 8.3 points per game, 6.6 rebounds per game, one block, four assists, and two steals, and had only two turnovers in the three games.
  • Kyla Allison leads the team from the free throw line hitting 17 of 18. Her 94.4 free throw percentage ranks third in the Southern Conference. Teammate Reagan Trumm is just below Allison with an 85.7 (18-of-21) free throw percentage. 
  • Western Carolina and Clemson meet for the 10th time on Saturday. The Tigers are 8-1 against the Catamounts in the previous nine contests. The Catamounts' lone win over Clemson came on Nov. 11, 2007, at the Tigers' home court with a 62-53 victory. In the last meeting, on Nov. 13, 2016, Clemson defeated Western Carolina 78-63. This will be the seventh meeting between the Catamounts and Tigers at Clemson with Clemson leading 5-1. 
 AN INSIDE LOOK AT CLEMSON:
  • Clemson is on a four-game winning streak after winning their last game at the Paradise Jam, defeating Northern Arizona, getting a pair of road wins at Charleston Southern and Georgia State, and defeating Charlotte at home on Thursday evening. 
  • Western Carolina is the second Southern Conference school the Tigers will face this season. Earlier in the year, Clemson defeated Wofford 79-68.
  • The game with the Catamounts closes out a two-game home stand. 
  • Amari Robinson (12.7) and Ruby Whitehorn (12.4) each are averaging 12 plus points per game. 
  • Clemson is just edging opponents in scoring averaging 68 points per game and allowing 60.4.
