CULLOWHEE, N.C. – Western Carolina men's basketball hits the road for its final road game of the 2021-22 regular-season on Wednesday as the Catamounts visit in-state foe UNCG for a 7 p.m. contest inside the Greensboro Coliseum.

WCU is 10-19 overall and 4-12 in the Southern Conference following an exciting 69-65 come-from-behind victory over Mercer in Cullowhee on Saturday afternoon. For the second time this season, the Catamounts erased a 14-point deficit to come back and earn the win. Marlow Gilmore paced WCU with a career-best 19 points and was joined in double figures by Marvin Price with 16 points and 11 from Vonterius Woolbright. The Catamounts held a 34-31 edge on the glass and limited the Bears to just nine made field goals in the second half.

UNCG enters Wednesday's game with a 16-12 overall mark and an even 8-8 league record after a 55-49 setback at Samford on Saturday. Kobe Langley led the Spartans with 15 points followed by Bas Leyte with 13 and Kaleb Hunter with 12. Langley also grabbed a team-best eight rebounds. The Spartans are amongst a three-way tie for fifth-place in the league standings, tied with Wofford and Mercer.

The Spartans took the first meeting between the two in Cullowhee, 68-49, back on Feb. 7 as UNCG put three in double figures including 15 by Hunter and 14 apiece from Langely and De'Monte Buckingham to spoil the 20-point effort by Nicholas Robinson which propelled him to over 1,000 for his collegiate career. UNCG forced 16 Catamount turnovers including 11 steals while riding a strong defensive effort in holding the Catamounts to 19 first-half points and 34-percent shooting for the game. WCU continues to lead the all-time series 31-28. In 2020-21, the Catamounts snapped a 10-game series losing skid to UNCG with an 81-80 win in Greensboro.

WCU returns home to conclude the 2021-22 regular season on Saturday night, welcoming VMI to Ingles Court at the Ramsey Center for a 7 p.m. tip-off. The Catamounts will recognize Nicholas Robinson as well as pair of student managers in senior night ceremonies prior to the game. Additionally, WCU Hall of Fame member Ronnie Carr will be recognized at Saturday's game in commemoration of the first 3-point basket in NCAA history.
