Cullowhee, N.C. – Former Western Carolina quarterback Tyrie Adams has signed with the Ottawa Redblacks of the Canadian Football League (CFL). The information was first announced in reports released by the Salina Liberty football team and confirmed through CFL transactions this week.
Adams, who spent part of last season as an assistant coach working with the running backs for the Dodge City (Kansas) College Conquistadors, is expected to compete along with former Samford Bulldogs QB Devlin "Duck" Hodges for the CFL franchise.
Adams had rejoined the Salina (Texas) Liberty of the Champions Indoor Football (CIF) league where he earned Offensive Rookie of the Year honors a season ago in the offensive backfield. He completed nearly 71-percent of his passes for the indoor football team a season ago, throwing for 944 yards and 25 touchdowns with just three interceptions.
Adams concluded his Catamount career as the all-time leader in five offensive categories including pass attempts (1,172), pass completions (739), passing yards (8,978), passing touchdowns (64), and total offensive yards (11,525) – the first WCU player to eclipse the 11,000-yard plateau. He also rushed for 2,547 career yards, the most by a quarterback in program history.
The Ottawa Redblacks open their 2022 season on May 27. For additional information, visit
