Catamounts Set to Host Furman Wednesday

Beginning of a four-match homestand

CULLOWHEE, N.C. – Western Carolina women's tennis hosts Southern Conference leader Furman at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Catamount Athletic Complex.

Western Carolina and Furman meet for the 36th time on Wednesday.
The match against Furman begins a four-match homestand to close out the regular season for the Catamounts.
Furman is 14-6 on the season and is on a two-match winning streak. The Paladins are currently 3-0 in conference play.
Western Carolina won its 11th match of the season with a 4-2 win at Alabama State Sunday, April 3. It is the third time in the known Catamount women's tennis history the program has had double-digit wins in a season. The 11 wins are the third most in known history with the record of 13 set in 2016 followed by 12 in 2019.
Head Coach Bret Beaver has been at the helm of the two Catamount teams that have the second and third most wins in known program history.
Sophomores Antonella Benavides leads the team with eight singles wins.
Kata Foldeak paces the team with 12 wins in doubles. Her 12 wins in doubles, on the season, ranks 10th in the WCU record books.
Jacy Smith's 30 career wins in singles are good for fifth in the WCU record books. Smith also has 33 career wins in doubles which rank third in the Catamount record books.
