Habib, Pezzuo and Smith honored

CULLOWHEE, N.C. – Western Carolina women's tennis match with Davidson was canceled Saturday. Senior Day festivities still plan to be held. 

 
MEET THE SENIORS
 
Hoda Habib
Habib is from Houston, Texas. Transferred to Western Carolina in the fall of 2020 from Louisiana at Lafayette. In her two years at Western Carolina, she has won 11 matches in singles and four in doubles. She was named to the 2020-21 SoCon Honor Roll and received a 2020-21 SoCon Commissioners Medal. She has been a part of the 2022 team that has amassed 11 victories – the third-most in program history for wins in a season.
 
Julia Pezzuco
Julia Pezzuco, from Johnston R.I., is a four-year player for Western Carolina. In her junior campaign, in 2021, she was named to the Southern Conference Second Team and No. 1 doubles … She is a three-time SoCon Honor Roll honoree and twice earned the SoCon Commissioners Medal … Julia returned to singles play after not being able to play singles for two seasons with injury … She has played three matches in singles this season with a 3-0 record … Julia's 24 career wins in doubles play is tied for sixth in the WCU record books with teammate Jordyn King … She has been a part of the 2022 team that has amassed 11 victories – the third-most in program history for wins in a season and as a freshman was part of the 2019 team who has 12 wins on the season – the second-most in program history. 
 
Jacy Smith
Jacy Smith, from Bryan Texas, was a 2021 SoCon Second Team All-Conference at No. 1 doubles and earned 2019 Southern Conference Second Team and a SoCon All-Freshman selection … She is a three-time SoCon Honor Roll selection and two-time SoCon All-Academic … As a freshman, her 16 wins in singles play tied the program record for most singles wins in a season … Jacy's 30 career wins in singles play is good for fifth place in the Catamount record books and her 33 career doubles wins ranks second in the WCU record books … She has been a part of the 2022 team that has amassed 11 victories – the third-most in program history for wins in a season and as a freshman was part of the 2019 team who has 12 wins on the season – the second-most in program history.
