With the Loss...
  • Western Carolina's four-game road winning streak that dated back to last season and included the season-opening road victory at Charleston Southern was snapped … It was WCU's first road loss since Oct. 2, 2021 at Chattanooga;
  • The Catamounts dropped to 0-61 all-time against NCAA FBS competition including an 0-33 mark against teams from the ACC.

Post-Game Notes
  • Western Carolina's 17 points against Georgia Tech were its most against an NCAA FBS opponent since scoring 26 in a season-ending road loss at North Carolina back in 2018 … WCU had been shut out twice among its last five FBS games, only scoring 26 total points during that same span;
  • WCU's offense outgained Georgia Tech in total yardage 390-to-343 on Saturday night … It was the first time since 2017 at Hawai'i that the Catamounts outgained an NCAA FBS opponent, posting a 482-to-453 edge in Honolulu in the 2017 season-opener;
  • The Catamount defense forced a three-and-out on the opening drive for the second straight game … the Catamount offense scored points on its opening drive for the second straight game with a Carlos Davis 49-yard touchdown pass to Terrence Horne this week after the 42-yard field goal by Richard McCollum at Charleston Southern;
  • After having six plays of 30 or more yards including four touchdowns in the season opener at Charleston Southern, the Catamounts continued their big play ways with two against the Yellow Jackets – the 49-yard Davis-to-Horne TD pass and a 30-yard completion to Desmond Reid out of the backfield;
  • Horne's 49-yard touchdown reception marked the third score of his WCU career, the second coming in as many games this season;
  • After securing his first career score on his first reception last weekend at Charleston Southern, second-year WR Toler Keigley caught his second career TD pass on his third career reception, hauling in a 22-yard score late in the first quarter to give WCU a 14-7 lead;
  • Freshman Desmond Reid had a career-high 62 yards receiving to go along with 47 rushing yards for a team-leading 112 all-purpose yards, his highest career total;
  • Malik Richardson's tackle for loss of Jeff Simms on the final play of the first quarter was the first tackle of his collegiate career ... Richardson was originally recruited to WCU as a quarterback and has transitioned to running back and now defense in his collegiate career;
  • WCU's drive starting position of its own two-yard line on the fourth drive of game was the worst starting field position for the Catamounts in two games this season;
  • Rod Gattison's third quarter interception was the fourth of his WCU career and his first since a pick at Wofford on Oct. 30, 2021 … WCU has two INTs as a defense in 2022;
  • Freshman QB Cole Gonzales threw his first collegiate pass for a 12-yard completion to TE Ajay Belanger in the third quarter ... Gonzales completed 6-of-8 attempts for 38 yards and guided a scoring drive that ended in a Richard McCollum field goal;
  • TE Ajay Belanger caught a team-best six passes for 42 yards as 11 different receivers caught passes on the day – 12 if you count a batted pass that Carlos Davis secured for a reception;
  • Freshman RB Corey Reddick carried the ball a career-best six times for a career-high 32 yards;
  • Andreas Keaton tallied seven tackles including one for loss to lead the Catamounts … WCU had three TFL's in the loss including one by Keaton, and one apiece for KJ Milner and Malik Richardson;
  • Richard McCollum drilled a season-long 44 yard-field goal in the fourth quarter at Georgia Tech ... McCollum has made 15 straight field goals including 2-for-2 this season … His 44-yard boot was a yard shy of matching his career-long and was the sixth 40-yard field goal of his career … McCollum additionally tied the WCU school record of 65 straight PATs held by Ken Hinsley (1995-98);

Miscellaneous Notes:
