Catamounts Travel to Ohio Friday

CULLOWHEE, N.C. – Western Carolina women's soccer completes the nonconference portion of its schedule at the University of Ohio Friday. Kick-off on the pitch is scheduled for 2 p.m.

AN INSIDE LOOK AT THE CATAMOUNTS:
  • Western Carolina is coming off a 2-0 loss at Radford Saturday, Sept. 10.
  • Over the last five matches, the Catamounts are 1-2-2.
  • The Catamounts' four ties on the season is one shy of the program record of five set in the 2005 season.
  • Redshirt freshman goalkeeper Eden Reece saw her first official action as a Catamount in the second half against Radford. Reece recorded a clean sheet with 45 minutes of shutout soccer and earned three saves. 
  • The Catamounts are 1-1-3 in road matches this season.
  • All three of Western Carolina's offensive goals, on the year, were scored in the win at UNC Asheville.
  • Western Carolina and Ohio meet for the second time in the two program's history and the first time at Ohio. The two teams first met in the fall of 2021 with the Catamounts winning in Cullowhee, 3-0. Naya Marcil scored two of the three goals for the Catamounts against the Bobcats. 
  • The Catamounts' match at Ohio concludes a three-match road swing for WCU. 
 
AN INSIDE LOOK AT OHIO:
  • Ohio went 1-1 last weekend with a 2-0 win against Northern Kentucky and a 3-1 loss to Notre Dame. 
  • The Bobcats are 1-0 at home on the year. 
  • Abby Townsend leads the Bobcats with three goals and four assists. 
  • As a team, Ohio has scored 18 goals on the season and given up six. 
  • Western Carolina is the second team from the Southern Conference the Bobcats will face this season. Ohio defeated VMI 11-0 on Sept. 4. 
  • The Bobcats have notched three shutouts on the year.
