Catamounts Travel to Chattanooga Saturday

CULLOWHEE, N.C. – Western Carolina women's basketball concludes its two-game road swing at 2 p.m. Saturday at Chattanooga in McKenzie Arena.

AN INSIDE LOOK AT THE CATAMOUNTS:
  • Western Carolina and Chattanooga meet for the 95th time on Saturday with the Mocs leading the series 82-12. Chattanooga has swept the series the last two seasons. The Catamounts last win over Chattanooga came on Feb. 8, 2020 in McKenzie Arena with WCU defeating the Mocs 61-53. The Catamounts are 6-38 at Chattanooga.
  • Junior Mya Love has scored in double figures in four of the last five games she has seen action in. She has bested her seasonal scoring output of 135 in her final season at Arkansas State with 199 this year at Western Carolina. Combining her time at Arkansas State and Western Carolina, Love has eclipsed 500 points of scoring with 512.
  • Kyla Allison leads the Catamounts draining 22 three-pointers this season. She has hit at least one three-pointer in the last four games and six of the last seven. Reagan Trumm is just behind Allison with 19 three-pointers on the year.
  • Allison leads the team averaging 13.3 points per game and has scored in double figures 14 times this year. Her 13.6 points per game rank eighth in the SoCon. Her 14.2 points per game in conference contests is good for seventh place.
 AN INSIDE LOOK AT CHATTANOOGA:
  • Chattanooga is on a two-game winning streak with victories over Furman and UNCG. The Mocs had defeat the Paladins in double overtime in Greenville, S.C. 51-44.
  • The Mocs are 6-3 at home this season.
  • Chattanooga is under the direction of new head coach Shawn Poppie.
  • Yaz Wazeerud-Din leads three Mocs averaging in double figures. Wazeerud-Din is averaging 16.1 points per game followed by Raven Thompson (13.9) and Abbey Cornelius (10.8).
