AN INSIDE LOOK AT THE CATAMOUNTS:
  • Western Carolina and Mercer meet for the 26th time on Saturday. The Bears hold a 24-1 advantage over the Catamounts and have won the last seven meetings. WCU's lone win against Mercer came on Feb. 20, 2020, in Cullowhee, defeating the Bears 51-40. Western Carolina is 0-10 at Mercer. Head Coach Kiley Hill is the only Western Carolina head women's basketball coach to defeat Mercer.
  • For the first time in two games, Mya Love was back in the double figure scoring business with 15 against Samford.
  • Graduate student Kyla Allison was named Southern Conference Student-Athlete of the Week Jan. 4 carrying a 3.3 cumulative GPA working on her master's degree in Social Work. She has scored in double figures in five-straight games and seven of the last eight. She is averaging 15.7 points per game over the last seven contests.
  • Audrey Meyers is having a breakout season. She has started 14 of 16 games on the year and has already bested her rebound total from her sophomore campaign. She has ripped down a total of 78 rebounds (4.9 per game) already eclipsing her mark of 57 in the 2021-22 season in 28 games played. Her 4.8 points per game and 77 total points scored, are also a season-best for the junior.
  • Joi Reid is the first Catamount to have pulled down double digit rebounds in two separate games this season. She had 11 in the season opener against Bluefield and tied that mark, 11, at Samford Jan. 4.
 AN INSIDE LOOK AT MERCER:
  • Mercer is looking to end a four-game losing streak its first four plus losing streak since losing six consecutive in the 2019-20 season. The team won only eight games that season.
  • Head coach Susie Gardner is one win away from her 400th career win.
  • The Bears held UNCG to just seven first quarter points. That is tied for the least amount scored in a quarter by a Division I school against the Bears this season (South Alabama).
  • Summah Evans had a career-high 14 rebounds in the SoCon opener against UNCG.
  • Amoria Neal-Tysor leads the Bear averaging 15.6 points per game.
