CULLOWHEE, N.C. – Western Carolina women's soccer closes out the home portion of the 2023 regular season while honoring seven seniors on Sunday as the Catamounts welcome the VMI Keydets to the Catamount Athletics Complex for a Noon contest.

Mikayla Roseman will each be honored in a Senior Day ceremony prior to the match.

WCU is 9-3-3 overall and 6-1 in Southern Conference play following a 3-0 victory at The Citadel on a rainy Thursday afternoon in Charleston, S.C.

Winners of five-straight matches and boasting 18 seasonal points, the Catamounts enter the weekend atop the SoCon standings just ahead of the two-way tie for second between ETSU (5-1-1) and Samford (5-1-1). The Bucs and Bulldogs – both with 16 points on the year – meet head-to-head on Sunday afternoon in Birmingham, Ala. Third-place Chattanooga (4-2-1) is the only other squad that could mathematically catch WCU with 13 points as the Mocs visit UNCG (2-4-1) on Sunday afternoon.
VMI heads to Cullowhee with a 2-14 seasonal record and a 1-6 league mark after a 3-1 home loss to Furman on Thursday. After the Paladins grabbed an early 1-0 lead, VMI tied the match just before halftime. Furman netted two goals within a minute during the final 14 minutes to emerge with the victory. Riley Boucher scored the lone goal of the match for the Keydets.
The Catamounts and Keydets have faced each other 10 times previously in women's soccer with WCU winning all 10 matches including a 4-1 victory in Cullowhee last season.
WCU concludes the 2023 regular season next Sunday, Oct. 22 at ETSU in a crucial SoCon match. Kickoff is scheduled for 2 p.m.
The 2023 SoCon Women's Soccer Championship opens on Oct. 24 with first-round matches between the No. 7 through No. 10 seeds. The top two finishers in the regular season will host a trio of matches Oct. 27-29 at their respective campuses with the championship contested either Nov. 4 or 5, hosted by the highest remaining seed.
