Catamounts Host Mercer Thursday

CULLOWHEE, N.C. – Western Carolina women's basketball begins a two-match home stand Thursday hosting Mercer at 7 p.m. on Ingles Court in the Ramsey Center.
 
 
AN INSIDE LOOK AT THE CATAMOUNTS:
  • Western Carolina and Mercer meet for the 27th time on Thursday. In the previous meeting on Jan. 7, the Bears defeated the Catamounts, in Macon, Ga., 76-40. Mercer leads the overall series 25-1. WCU's lone win against Mercer came on Feb. 20, 2020, in Cullowhee, defeating the Bears 51-40. Head Coach Kiley Hill is the only Western Carolina women's basketball coach to defeat Mercer. 
  • Head Coach Kiley Hill is the only head coach in program history to record two wins, in their tenure, at Chattanooga.
  • In the Catamounts' pair of SoCon victories on the season, Western Carolina held its opponent to under 50 points in the contest: 49 vs. Wofford and 48 vs. Chattanooga. 
  • Western Carolina's nine wins on the year are the most since the 2014-15 campaign when the team amassed 11. 
  • Graduate Kyla Allison is averaging 13.6 points per game to lead the team. She scored 20 points in the Catamounts' 56-48 win at Chattanooga on Jan. 28. In seven games in January, Allison averaged 15 points per game and shot 40.9 percent from the field scoring in double figures six of the seven games and scored 20 or points twice.
 
 AN INSIDE LOOK AT MERCER:
  • In two of Mercer's four conference wins, it has held its opponent to under 45 points.
  • Erin Houpt is shooting 50.0 percent from 3-point range over her last two games (13-for-26).
  • Mercer has just two road wins on the season and is still searching for a conference road victory.
  • Amoria Neal-Tysor leads the Bears averaging 15.6 points per game.
