Catamounts Close Out Regular Season Saturday against VMI

CULLOWHEE, N.C. – The Western Carolina men's basketball team concludes the 2022-23 regular season on Saturday as the Catamounts host VMI at 4 p.m. in the first half of a Pack the RAC / Senior Night doubleheader with the WCU women's team.
 
Cam Bacote, Marlow Gilmore, and Tyler Harris will each be honored in a special pregame ceremony.
 
Tickets for Saturday's game can be purchased in advance online at CatamountSports.com, by phone at (828) 227-2401, or at the Ramsey Center box office. As a reminder, WCU Athletics continues to adhere to a clear bag policy for all home men's and women's basketball games in the Ramsey Center. Only standard clear bags, 12-inches by 6-inches by 12-inches in size, small purses approximately 4.5-inches by 5-inches not including the strap, and clear gallon-size storage bags are permitted. Diaper bags (child must be present upon entry) and any medical-related bags will be allowed. 

Saturday's games will be broadcast on ESPN+ (paid subscription required) with live audio from the Catamount Sports Network beginning at 3:30 p.m.
 
WCU enters the weekend with a 16-14 overall record and a 9-8 mark in league games following a 71-52 road loss to UNCG on Wednesday. Tre Jackson paced the Catamounts with 17 points while Tyzhaun Claude posted a double-double with 16 points and 11 rebounds.
 
The Catamounts have secured the No. 4 seed at next weekend's Ingles Southern Conference Tournament in Asheville and will play a to-be-determined opponent at 2:30 p.m. on Sat., March 4.
 
VMI is 7-23 overall and 2-15 in conference contests after an 87-83 home overtime victory against Wofford on Wednesday. Rickey Bradley Jr. led five Keydets in double figures with 24 points in a game-high 42 minutes. Asher Woods tallied 21 points before fouling out. VMI will be the No. 10 seed at the Ingles SoCon Tournament.
 
The Catamounts and Keydets have met 67 previous times with WCU holding a 38-29 advantage in the all-time series following a 71-65 victory in Lexington, Va. on Jan. 28. With a win Saturday, the Catamounts would sweep the season series against VMI for the first time since the 2017-18 season.
