AN INSIDE LOOK AT THE CATAMOUNTS:
  • Western Carolina and ETSU meet for the 80th time on Saturday. The Buccaneers have won the last three meetings including earlier this season defeating the Catamounts' 70-39 in Johnson City. The Catamounts last win over the Bucs came in Johnson City in 2021 with WCU picking up a 62-48 victory. ETSU has won 14 of the last 15 meetings. Western Carolina is 17-21 at home against the Bucs.
  • The Catamounts still have a chance to move up one spot in the conference standings. WCU and Furman each have two SoCon wins. Should Western Carolina defeat ETSU and Furman lose to Samford on Saturday the Catamounts would move up to the seven seed heading into the upcoming 2023 Ingles SoCon Basketball Championships presented by General Shale.
  • In the Catamounts' pair of SoCon victories on the season, Western Carolina held its opponent to under 50 points in the contest: 49 vs. Wofford and 48 vs. Chattanooga.
  • Allison leads the team averaging 13.3 points per game and has scored in double figures 19 times this year. Her 13.3 points per game rank ninth in the SoCon. Her 13.8 points per game in conference contests is good for 10th place.
 AN INSIDE LOOK AT ETSU:
  • ETSU had its four-game winning streak snapped with a 58-49 loss at UNCG Thursday. The loss dropped the Bucs out of a tie for first place and a chance at the regular season SoCon title.
  • The Buccaneers are 8-3 this season in away games.
  • Jiselle Thomas leads ETSU averaging 15.2 points per game.
  • ETSU is averaging 63.1 points per game and shooting 39.4 percent from the field.
