Cullowhee, N.C. – Due to wet field conditions and unfavorable weather forecasts throughout the day, Saturday's (Feb. 25) nonconference baseball game between Western Carolina and Xavier at Childress Field / Hennon Stadium has been postponed. The teams are expected to play a doubleheader on Sunday, Feb. 26, beginning at 11 a.m., with the finale to follow 45 minutes after the conclusion of the first game.
Both of Sunday's games are slated to be broadcast on ESPN+ (
paid subscription required) with live stats for both ends of the twin bill available online at CatamountSports.com. Tickets for Saturday's postponed game will be honored for entrance to the stadium on Sunday.
Rain moved into western North Carolina in the latter innings of Friday's series opener won by Xavier 9-4 and continued sporadically through the overnight hours and much of Saturday morning. Forecasts call for rain to continue into the evening hours making field preparations difficult before moving out of the region overnight.
