Catamounts Face Samford on Saturday at Home

Second game of a doubleheader with men's basketball

CULLOWHEE, N.C. – Western Carolina women's basketball closes out a two-game home stand hosting Samford at 5 p.m. on Ingles Court in the Ramsey Center. It is the second game of a doubleheader Saturday as the men host Chattanooga at 2 p.m.

AN INSIDE LOOK AT THE CATAMOUNTS:
  • Western Carolina and Samford meet for the 33rd time on Saturday with the Bulldogs holding a 28-4 advantage. The Bulldogs won the first meeting of the season 59-47 on Jan. 5, 2023, in Birmingham. The Catamounts have lost 19 consecutive games to Samford. WCU's last win over the Bulldogs came on Jan. 13, 2014, defeating Samford 54-50 in Cullowhee. Two of WCU's four wins over Samford have come at home. The Catamounts' other home win over Samford was on Feb. 20, 2012, winning 52-44.
  • Senior Endia Holliday ripped down a career-high 13 rebounds against Mercer Thursday, Feb. 2.
  • Graduate Kyla Allison is averaging 13.6 points per game to lead the team. She has scored 20 or more points four times this season. She has scored in double figures in 16 of the 21 games she has seen action this season.
  • Joi Reid and Endia Holliday have both ripped down double figures rebounds in at least two games on the year. Reid leads overall having had four double figure rebounds on the year.
  • It is women's basketball alumni day on Saturday and 27 former women's basketball student-athletes will be returning for the event.
 
 AN INSIDE LOOK AT SAMFORD:
  • Samford picked up a 75-68 road win at UNCG Feb. 2.
  • Sophomore Sussy Ngulefac is coming off a career-high 22 points in the win over the Spartans.
  • The Bulldogs hit 11 three-pointers at UNCG.
  • Andrea Bailey paces the Bulldogs who is averaging 18.1 points per game.
  • Samford is averaging 68.1 points per contest and giving up 67.3.
