AN INSIDE LOOK AT THE CATAMOUNTS:
  • Graduate guard Kyla Allison was awarded the Ann Lashley Inspiration Award earlier this week to go along with her second-team All-Southern Conference in the coaches' vote and a third-team honoree by the voting media.
  • This season, Allison has been on a mission. She leads the team averaging 13.7 points per game, closing the regular season eighth in the SoCon in scoring while averaging 4.6 rebounds per game. She raised her scoring average to 14.5 points per game in conference play. Allison has scored double figures in 20 of the 27 games she has seen action in and eclipsed the 20-point mark in five contests.
  • Western Carolina and Wofford meet for the 61st time on Thursday. The Catamounts and Terriers split the regular season series with each team winning at home. The Catamounts shocked Wofford in Cullowhee defeating the Terriers 53-49. Wofford returned the favor at home on Feb. 11 winning 83-62. Wofford has won eight of the last 10 meetings. This is the fifth time Western Carolina and Wofford will meet in the first round of the SoCon Championships. The last meeting came in 2008 as the No. 2 seed Catamounts knocked off No. 10 seeded Wofford 78-61. Overall, WCU is 3-1 against Wofford when the two face in the opening round of the tournament.
  • Western Carolina scored a season-high 84 points in the double overtime loss to ETSU, Feb. 25, to close out the regular season. It was also the first double overtime game of the season for the Catamounts.
  • The Catamounts two conference wins are against No. 1 seed Wofford and No. 2 seed Chattanooga.

AN INSIDE LOOK AT WOFFORD:
  • Wofford held off Mercer's late comeback push to win 82-76 and claim the SoCon Regular-Season Championship. Both teams shot over 40 percent and committed single-digit turnovers, but Wofford gained a 38-24 advantage in the paint. The Terriers were led by Rachael Rose and Jackie Carman each dropping 25 points, and Rose added 10 boards for a double-double. She also led the team with six assists. Four total Terriers scored double figures, including both seniors. Carman's 25 combined with Lilly Hatton's 10 on Senior Day.
  • Wofford has won the SoCon Regular-Season Championship and earned the No. 1 seed for the SoCon Tournament for the first time ever. More importantly, this is the first championship for any women's sport in Wofford Athletics history.
  • Wofford has won 20 games this season, surpassing last season's total of 17 to set a new program record for wins in a season during Wofford's Division I era. This is the first 20-win season for the Terriers at the D-I level and first since 1993-94.
