MACON, Ga. – The Western Carolina women's tennis team dropped a hard-fought 4-3 decision to Mercer in Southern Conference action from the LeRoy Peddy Tennis Center on Sunday.
WCU (11-6, 0-2) earned the doubles point and claimed all three doubles matches. Mercer (8-6, 2-0) picked up wins at No. 4, No. 3, and No. 1 singles before clinching the match in a three-set tiebreaker at No. 2 singles.
Angela Perez was a 6-3, 6-2 winner at No. 5 singles with
Andrea Redondo earning a 6-3, 6-1 win at No. 6 singles.
WCU returns to the Catamount Athletic Complex on Friday, hosting UNCG at 2 p.m. The match is scheduled to be streamed on ESPN+ (paid subscription required) with free live stats available on catamountsports.com.
